History of the Venue
The International Writers’ and Translators’ Centre of Rhodes ‘Waves of Three Seas’ is situated on a hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea, near the middle of town. It is divided into two parts – the main, traditional building which, once it has been restored, will house the main offices, meeting rooms, libraries and other functions, and the newer wing which was opened in April 1997. This wing constitutes our hostel facility and contains 10 single rooms, each with its own shower and WC. There is also a communal dining room and kitchen which can used by guests who wish to prepare their own meals. The administrative office is situated on the first floor of the hostel building.
The hostel is open to writers and translators not only from the area of the Three Seas but also further afield, offering a tranquil, informal working environment which we hope will make for a productive and enjoyable stay. It provides accommodation free of charge for a period of two to six weeks with our guests covering their own travel and food expenses.
In order to stay at the Centre, it will be necessary to fill in our simple application form which will then be processed by our staff and approved by the Centre’s Cultural Committee. It is our aim to make everything simple and straightforward and to accommodate as many people as possible.
We look forward to meeting you and working with you as the Centre begins its activities and Rhodes once more becomes a crossroads of cultural co-operation and friendship.
